How to visit Petra from Amman
Petra is about 235 km south of Amman, roughly a three-hour drive along the Desert Highway or the scenic King's Highway, which passes Madaba, Mount Nebo and Kerak Castle on the way. A day trip is possible, but most travellers prefer to stay at least one night near Petra so they can enter early in the morning, walk through the Siq to the Treasury and climb to the Monastery without rushing.
Many of our guests combine Petra with Wadi Rum, only about 1.5 hours further south, for a jeep tour among the red dunes and a night in a Bedouin camp, and finish their trip floating in the Dead Sea.
