Day 1 – Arrival in Amman

Meet and assist at Queen Alia Airport and private transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 – Wadi Mujib and the Dead Sea

Drive to Wadi Mujib, the lowest nature reserve on earth, and follow the Siq Trail upstream between towering sandstone walls, wading and climbing small waterfalls (April–October; in winter we replace it with a hike at Ma'in hot springs). Afternoon float in the Dead Sea.

Day 3 – King's Highway to Dana

Drive the King's Highway via Kerak castle to Dana, a stone village on the edge of a spectacular valley. Afternoon walk on the rim trails and a night in Dana with views over the reserve.

Day 4 – Hike from Dana and on to Petra

A morning hike down into the Dana Biosphere Reserve with a local guide, among sandstone cliffs, juniper trees and Bedouin camps, then transfer to Petra.

Day 5 – Petra by the back door

Start at Little Petra and hike the Bedouin trail over the mountains to the Monastery, then descend the 800 steps into the heart of Petra and walk out through the Siq past the Treasury. A day you will never forget.

Day 6 – Wadi Rum: jeep, camel and desert camp

A 4x4 jeep tour to the dunes, canyons and rock bridges of Wadi Rum, with a short climb on the Um Fruth or Burdah rock bridges and a camel ride at sunset. Bedouin dinner and a night in a desert camp under the stars.

Day 7 – Departure or Red Sea extension

Transfer to the airport, or continue to Aqaba for snorkelling and diving on the Red Sea coral reefs.

  • Fitness: the hikes are moderate; we adapt the routes to your level.
  • Visa: free with your tour, see Jordan visa and Jordan Pass. More on the desert in our Wadi Rum guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best hike in Jordan?

The back trail from Little Petra to the Monastery is one of the most beautiful hikes in the Middle East. Dana Biosphere Reserve and the Siq Trail in Wadi Mujib are also highlights.

Do I need a guide for hiking in Jordan?

For Dana and the Petra back trail we recommend a licensed local guide, which we include. Wadi Mujib's Siq Trail can be done without a guide.

Can I add diving or snorkelling?

Yes. Aqaba on the Red Sea has easy coral reefs for snorkelling and boat dives for certified divers, with full equipment available.
